How fast of an Internet Connection do I need? - Jonas
The internet connection depends on your type of internet cafe. If you allow online gaming then the faster the better. If you do strictly internet and email then simple ADSL or higher will do. |

My cafe is small (3 seats). Should I use software or an excel spreadsheet? - Tamika
You should use an internet cafe software. Even though you have only 3 seats, the software will pay for itself in a small amount of time. Let's say under a non-monitored environment you lose $10 a day in inaccurate timing or people walking out. You software would be paid for in 1 month. The truth is you are probably losing more than $10 a day by not using a software monitor. Look here for a full list of software . |

What is the best method of collecting money for my customers? Should I get the money ahead of time?
In a word, yes. This method ensures you get paid without a customer running out on the bill. Use a software that can create account and try to sell your customer a large chunk of time in advance. If you sell 20 hours in advance you get the money for a larger portion of time, and your customer usually enjoys a discounted rate. Everyone wins! |

What about Free Internet cafe softwares? - Markus Fuhr
As a business owner you need to remember the old saying... you get what you pay for. The use of any free software can be risky since the company has no commitment to support you if something goes wrong. If there is a bug in the program that they can't fix, you cannot really argue with the writer. Pay for a good software and your will make the money back in a limited amount of time. |

What have you heard about Smartlauch software? - Markus Fuhr
I have heard good things about Smartlaunch software. There focus is on gaming center software. They are on the upper end for cost (compared to other cyber cafe softwares) but produce good software. They have a trial version. I recommend you give it a try to see if you like it. |

Should I offer HotSpots for free? - Markus Fuhr
Many are offering this service for free to attract people into the cafe. These people will buy your other products and services. Many McDonalds and Starbucks locations give WiFi away at their locations. |

How much can I charge per hour? - name not given
This is 100% based on your area and supply and demand. Tourist or cruise ship areas usually can charge more than the business oriented cafe. If your cafe is the only game in town then charge more. If there is a cafe around every corner, you may consider almost giving the time away with the purchase of other products. |

Are consoles a good idea to have in my store? - name not given
Yes, having anything that can generate extra revenue is a good idea. Consoles are popular with teens. Keep in moind the rest of your cafe. Gamers can be louder and more animated than the business user. You do not want to scare away your core audience. |

My cafes is small and internet only. What PCs do I buy? - twiggy669
If you are not using high performace games or editing applications then I suggest you keep it simple. Any current machine from manufacturers such as HP and Dell should work fine. Buy a good monitor so the desktop is visually appealing (since that is what your customer will see). |

Make Extra Money with Point of Sale Items
This sounds obvious but I have stepped foot into many internet cafes that do not offer food or drink. From simple coffee to a snack, your cafe can make extra money by offering food and drink. You don't need a chef and a kitchen. What you need at minimum is a coffee maker and a selection of snack food. Coffee, potato chips, chocolate bars, bottled water, protein bars etc.. are all easy to sell and popular with patrons. |

"How important is internet cafe software for my cafe?" - twiggy669
Internet cafe software is one of the most important additions to your cafe. They act as a timer, security and administrator for your business. Also they are useful for keeping your employees in check. Make the investment in a good internet cafe software and you will make the money back in a matter of days. |
